Finca Verde Farm
March 17,2022
The Finca Verde Farm is nestled in the rainforest town of Bijagua in sight of the Tenorio and Miravalles volcanos. This small family-run, organic farm is an eco-tourism project that uses natural resources and zero chemicals promoting nature to thrive in its natural form. This has resulted in a haven for the sloths on the farm to live and reproduce.

The farm offers walks around the rainforest showing off tropical plants, birds, frogs, snakes, monkeys, insects, and lots more. Also seeing the resident sloths and learning about their life and metabolism. When we arrived we were too late to go on the full tour but they made sure we still got to see some sloths getting ready for the night before the sun went down.

Though we had fun on our tours I would not recommend spending the night here, the beds were not comfortable. The shower hot water adapter made me fear it might shock me when I took a shower, same with some of the outlets.
$90 USA for the night room for three.

Sloths

We made it too late to be able to see the tour of the farm but we were able to get a last glance of the sloths as they went up the trees for the night. The first one we saw was running up the tree much faster than we expected I almost didn't get to catch him with my camera. We were shown around a few other spots to try and find some sloths before it got too dark to see any. The second one we saw had a little baby on her chest with her cradling her in the crook of a tree branch.

Night Tour
After the rains that happened the frogs were very abundant on the trails. We all were given flashlights to peek around the dark and see what we could. We saw around 6 different types of frogs, the red-eye tree frog, glass frog, hourglass tree frog, tink frog, and the pygmy tree frog. None of these are deadly poisonous, the worst that could happen is if you held one with your bare hands for too long your skin would start to tingle. The biggest threat out there would be the vipers though we didn't see any while out our guide was good at checking for them. We teased him saying that he must have had his viper repellent on cause none came out.
