Our second trip to Masi Mara we were welcomed by a lioness lying in the grass, our first lion sighting that was close up. This trip we were only there for the morning and mid afternoon but we got to see alot of our favorite animals and some that we hadnt gotten to see close up yet too. We got to see a lot more elephants and even seeing a large bull who was by himself walking around grazing.

When driving around we went past a tree, and I noticed something up in the branches. As we got closer to the tree we saw that it was an antilope that a jaguaire had pulled up into the tree.

Having to go to the bathroom on safari is not as easy or fun for women as it is for men. We were lucky enough to have to squat down behind the van in order to go to the restroom. After I hurt my knee it was really hard to squat down so I ended up using our "she-wi" that brought. Its basically a silicone funnel that makes it easy to go while standing. It came in such handy while trying to hurry and go to the bathroom in lion territory.

As we were getting ready to leave to head back to Nairobi our guide asked us if there was anything else we wanted to see. With out skipping a beat we told him we hadnt yet seen a male lion in any of our tours. He pulled donw the radio and we heard him asking about "simba" the swahili name for lion. And our drive quickly pulled away and went up a gravel road towards a resort. Then our guide just pulled over, and pointed saying there they are there are lions out there.

This is all we see we are told there are 4 lionesses out here, and as we are looking he lets us know "oh there is a male there too"

Even knowing where they are it is very hard to spot them in this picture! I have zoomed in many times and can hardly make out any signs of them. In the next picture there are three of the four showing. And in the picture fallowing that you can see what they were all staring at!

He lifed just long enough for us to see him! My moms battery died and as shes fumbling with it, I was taking as many pictures as I could. He didn't stay up very long though and soon put his head down hiding in the grass again with his ladies.

Our final animal we saw as we were heading out was a mother elephant with two kids! One was a few years old and the other we were told was just weeks old. This is very rare, most moher elephants stay in for hiding tell babies are at least 6 months old, especially if they do not have the need to be migrating or traveling. And even when they do they keep the babies mostly in the brush to keep them as safe as possible. It was the perfect way for us to end our last safari.
