While planning for our trip to Kenya Africa, I joined a Facebook group called Girls Love Travel. Its a travel site all for women, by women talking all about travel experiences and answering questions for each other. I posted on the site that we wanted to bring some things to donate and that we were thinking about tooth brushes and pencils. Trying to get some ideas of where to donate to. Though we had some negative responses about it we did have a few people privet message about where we could donate to.

This is how I meet a few women who helped us in Kenya! One was a police officer who reassured us that the children would appreciate what ever we brought for them. She offered to assist us with what ever we needed while visiting. And though we never got to meet her in person she did help us get a ride from the airport to our hotel for cheaper then the hotel would of charged and we got to meet another friend this way! He welcomed us into the country and kept in contact with us for our whole trip.

Another friend we meet volunteers at an organization called (YWCA) Young Women Christian Association they have groups all over Kenya. She lives over off the coast while her sister lives in Nairobi, we meet her sister and gave her the suitcase full of donations. We brought two medium suitcases apiece and two large ones with the smaller inside so we could have a empty one to bring souvenirs home.

From girls love travel we got the idea to make gift bags for the stewards. For the first flights just connecting in the united states we had a bag of chocolate we offered to the stewards in our area. Everyone was so appreciative to even this little simple kindness. For our longer flights we gave out the gift bags we made, we gave one to every one of the stewards and the pilots. We included a notepad with a pen, single purell pack, hair bands, gum and chocolate. They all loved them! They even gave us some gifts back. On our flight from Washington Dc to Frankfurt the stewards gave us all kinds of fun things, goodies that are normally for first class even lots of chocolates and even a cute little plane stuffed animal.
