Sunscreen
Our ocean life is being ruined by more than just plastics and garbage, another way that tourists are harming marine animals is through what they do not realize they are bringing in with them. SUNSSCREEN! Reef-safe sunscreen is one of the most important things you can bring with you to the beach. Only biodegradable sunscreens are permitted on the Mayan Riviera. The most common brands of sunscreen have PABA, octinoxate, and oxybenzone are among the common ingredients that have been linked to damaging the coral reefs ecosystem as well as causing tumors on turtles and other ocean animals. Look for a sunscreen that is also "waterproof" so that your application does not come off in the water.

Try to find your own to bring its much more expensive on the coast.
Things to see
The aquatic Disneyland of Mexico! We prebought out tickets and got 15% off that way, you can purchase your tickets up to three days in advance. We booked our adventures as well in advance to be sure we could get the ones we wanted, We scheduled to swim with nurse sharks, as well as with the sting rays! We got the plus bands that included a buffet lunch as well as an extra lazy river. Information more on Xcatet and our experience there through the link above.
Tulum is the 3rd most visited site in Mexico and the most visited spot in the state of Quintana Roo. What is now known as Tulum or in Mayan "fence or trench" was once known as Zama "city of dawn." This city was in its heyday during the 13th and 15th centuries, and there is no specific data about the population during these times but the estimate is between 1,000 and 1,600.
Go to Akumal first thing in the morning to get the best experience with turtles. The reef there is home to loggerhead and green sea turtles together with sting rays and other fish they swim and feed all day. The turtles here are used to people but you still are not allowed to touch them. Almost all the turtles have tumors due to sunscreen that comes off us and floats on the surface. Make sure when you are in the water you are wearing reef-safe sunscreen! Life jackets are required to wear while with the turtles you can't free dive. We used a guide to take us out and he helped pull us back to shore when we were done.
