A contestant for one of the new, seven wonders of the world due to its unique qualities, the Dead Sea is quite a site to see. At the deepest point on earth, 430 meters below the sea surface contributes to its salinity of 34.2%. This high percentage of salt makes it where nothing can live inside or around it. But does make it where when you enter the water it causes a bouncy that makes everything float.
But it also makes it very hard to swim in! Trying to get the iconic picture of floating in the water takes some skills and stomach muscles you might not be used to using!

Salt and mud
The Dead Sea has been believed to have healing and age-defining properties for years. It's even said that Cleopatra used the water and its surrounding mud in her beauty regimen. Shops all throughout Jordan sell different mud masks and skin care products, many promising to help with one condition or another.
My mom gets a product from the Dead Sea in the States that works for her eczema. She found the same product in these shops for a little more than she could get back home.

How to float in the Dead Sea, for starters you want to make sure that you have water shoes before walking along the salty shores. The salt that makes up the bead of the sea is very sharp and slippery.

Walking out into the water is the same as any other body of water until you reach about waist height. That's when you start to feel the water's effect
making your body lighter, I first felt it in my legs walking around they felt almost heavier and I had to fight to keep them on the ground. At this point I fell back to feel the floating abilities of the dead sea. It is very effortless to paddle around when floating, but when you go to turn around or put your legs back under you it takes a lot of balance and coordination not to fall. It is only recommended to spend 10 min in and then out of the water. Being exposed to the water, salt and minerals too long causes your skin to get extremely soft and be an overwhelming experience on your body this plus the salt below can cause harm to you if you were to fall on the crystals.
Try not to get any of the water in your eyes or mouth! To say the water is salty is an understatement! Each grain of salt is felt when you get it in your eyes and you can all but chew the water if you get it into your mouth. Luckily the top straps of my bathing suit never got wet so I was able to use that to clean out my eyes quickly. But I would recommend keeping some clean water nearby the shore just to be safe.
Before going out to float resist the urge to shave, while the water doesn't sting as much on older scrapes anything that is open burns when first going in. It is also recommended to remove all jewelry that is not 24-carat gold anything else will tarnish instantly in the sea.
